I mistakenly bought a Ryobi sliding compound miter saw a few years ago. It was my first large (yea yea) investment into woodworking and I knocked out a lot of projects with it over the years.Recently I was having to fight the saw to lock down the saw perpendicular to the fence and due to excessive use of plastic bits, I no longer can lock down any miter angle that will stay between cuts. A year back or more the bevel adjustment (also plastic) cracked while I was tightening it, so Ive left the bevel locked down to 90d since then instead of trying to fight that battle.I dont have a desire to fix this as I never was really happy with the tool and I have a nice compound miter saw to use in the shop (no slider, but at least it takes up a much smaller footprint!)Can anyone think of projects that I can recycle various bits for? I could probably make a table saw out of this, but I dont have room for one and I already have a setup to use my circular saw as a table saw in a jiff. Would the larger blade and higher HP be worth upgrading to a new DIY stow-away table saw thingy? Can anyone else think of a decent use for the sliders, motor, or other bits? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2htz0YS
