Winter is almost here in New York. I'm having a baby in less than 2 months. My wife would like a car for around $2000 or less but it's hard to find one that doesn't have issues, for the price. We will eventually need a newer one, moving across the country in 2 years.
We would like to raise my credit score above poor, before we buy new and I am a new driver. Should I keep searching for around $2000, aim a little higher, or just go new? I don't have a lot of time with our child coming. I have a lot of anxiety and would like to slowly get used to driving in more traffic too. I don't want to put anybody at risk. My commute to work is on a fairly quiet road and only 3.5 miles each way.
