Ok..so..3 years ago I moved into My home. At that time I noticed the septic alarm was unplugged. I plugged it in, and it started going off so I unplugged it.. I didn't really mess with it anymore because foolish me assumed since the septic was inspected before buying the home, this was Ok or by design.I've been in My house 3 years. Never had any problems with septic, drains, or anything in the home. I actually Just had the septic pumped in September. I asked the guy how full it was Just to guage how long would be appropriate between pumping. He said it was fairly full and that 3 to 3 1/2 years max would be about right. The other day I was talking to My dad about his septic alarm as he recently had his high water float get stuck. He suggested Maybe that was what was wrong with mine. So Itoday I pulled the lid and found the part with the pump was filled with water. I tested the outlet the pump was plugged into, it has power. I Tried plugging the pump into an extension cord. It didn't run. I bypassed the float switch plug, and pump didn't run. I can not fairly safely assume the pump is dead. I'll be calling by dads plumber first thing in the morning to come look at it.My question is...Theres a pump there for a reason... Why is it I've never had a problem if that pump isn't working. I have never had fluid overflow out of the cover Outside. No problems with indoor drains draining. No problems at all which is why I never thought about the alarm again until the other day. Where is the water going if the pump isn't doing Its job? I'm Just curious now with all this. Like I said in having someone who knows what is what loom at it ASAP but this is Just so weird to me. Wheres the water going?Other notes...house was built in 2003.Edit..I do NOT have a septic mound..Just a leech field via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2lYCAQ3
