My parents live in the middle of no where and internet when they first moved there was CRAZY expensive. Awful reception with Excede (and only 18gbs/month with impossible throttle after) for $100 a month.

Recently, we've been paying the same amount of money to Hughes net and gotten better reception (not great) but still expensive and only 50 gb/month allowance before throttling.

Tonight we just signed up for AT&T. They weren't in our area At All this past year, but they must have recently opened up to our area with their Fixed Internet plans.. a new thing they're offering via the cell towers. For $40 less we are going to get 160 gb/month! Not as fast Mbps as hughes net was offering, but for the gigs and still 10mbps guaranteed we can't complain. We don't have a TV fancy enough for anything beyond HD anyways.

We get to cancel cable and use Pluto TV and streaming services, saving them another $100 too. And my mom can watch a show on her kindle while my dad watches his shows.

Our monthly bills will go from $200 + taxes to $60 + taxes. Who knows how long it's been available (and we've been paying unnecessarily this whole time as a result), but I'm glad we evaluate what can change at least every year just in case for happy situations like these.

Propane delivery, electric bills, cell phones, all of these things can be lowered with some research into what is new in one's area, specials going on, and new companies trying to entice people (or old ones trying to get people back). If you just pick a time of the year to do it all (Between Thanksgiving and Christmas is us, as usually there are Cyber Monday/Black Friday discounts abound in larger companies) it helps lump it all together.
