I'm a new home owner this year, formerly only a renter/roommate who never had to deal with deciding when the heat turned on or off- it was always decided by the building or the managing roommate. This year however I bought a used manufactured home from the 80s (only 9k, paying under $300 a month in lot rent, its amazing).

What I'm not sure of now that temperatures are dropping up here in the North East is when to turn my heating on. (For reference we have both a propane furnace and space heaters) Growing up we always kept the temp pretty low and wore sweaters and heavy blankets around the house, but I'm still not sure what temp to start at. I don't want the pipes to freeze for starters!

/frugal, when do you turn your heat on?
