I just got married last week. It was great, no regrets! Super happy. Wife and I got a small windfall of cash (about $2500) that we split evenly between us to do as we please. I chose to pay off all my credit card debt and two collections. Now my half of the money is gone! It would have been nice to take that money on a trip somewhere, but damn does it feel nice to wipe out that debt.

I haven't had a vacation in 10 years. I've worked literally every week for a decade. For the last 18 months or so I've been using Credit Karma to keep myself aware of and accountable to my credit score, chipping away at old debts, being careful about how and when I accrue new debts, and generally saving and pushing for a more austere approach to finance.

It has been extremely arduous. But it's paying off. I'm up to 680 from 550, my accounts are aging, and my debtors are fewer. It feels good. Next year, I hope I can fund a vacation for my wife and myself.

Here's to the struggle.
