I work as a nurse for a large non-union hospital system in a "Per Diem" position. I make about $7 more per hour than other employees because I don't receive any benefits. I've been there for a year. I have another full time job.
During my annual employee review I talked with my manager and she told me that Per Diem employees don't get pay raises. She even called some other higher up while I was in her office and asked that person on the phone, "well then how do I incentivize them to stay or do better?" She got some sort of non-answer.
So should I just quit? How could I say "if that's the case I'll be looking to leave this job unless we can negotiate" without it being a threat or whatever you'd call that.
Thanks in advance.
