It seems like over the past few years, there has been an explosion in the jeans industry. Nowadays there's all sorts of hipsters that seem to think they NEED raw denim selvedge jeans for $200 a pair because nothing else is sturdy enough for them. I worked in the road construction industry and wore the same two pair of $17 wrangler jeans from Walmart (Boot cut even! GASP!) and the I probably could have gotten some more life out of them if I really wanted to because the only problem was holes in the back pockets from the metal money clip on my wallet. That same money clip wore through $70 Levi's 5x faster btw. Oh, and what's up with everyone now talking like boot cut jeans are a huge no-no? Some people actually wear boots... If I wear slim or even most straight cut jeans, I have to damn near stretch them to get them over my boots. And I'm not talking about redwings that never see dirt, I'm talking about timberland or ariat work boots, or even the lucchese's for line dancing or just a little shine.

Fashion has always been a good example of "form follows function," but it just seems like the people who are most interested in fashion now like to pretend that their hard-working rugged individuals, but these rules they seem to make don't add up. I look around r/malefashionadvice or r/malefashion and see people showing off their raw selvedge jeans rolled up that were 4" too short in the first place and it seems like this it's the same crowd that talks about americana workwear. But they trashtalk Wrangler's because anything you can buy at walmart isn't good enough for their hard supposed hard working lifestyle. I just don't buy it.

Someone please tell me I'm not the only one who sees this? I'm hoping there's some like-minded people in the frugal sub, considering in my opinion, you can't beat Wrangler jeans for a balance of comfort, quality, and cost (even if they have gone up in price since I started wearing them.
