I bought a used park of computer speakers (klipsch promedia 2.1BT) knowing that they were broken. When I opened them I found the problem to be that the transformer had somehow broken free of its mounting bracket with a power output coming unplugged. I inspected the rest of the circuit board for damage and other than cosmetic damage (some bent mosfets and dinged up epoxy) everything appeared to be in good condition, and testing it with a multi-meter everything checked out. After reattaching the transformer to the circuit board and plugging it back in they speakers work, though with an occasional tick through the speakers that happened after about 20 minutes. However, there is no allocated power button anywhere on the speakers meaning that it will always be on so I guess my question is if I should replace the board just in case? Also is there any difference between unplugging the speakers to turn them off and using the breaker on a power strip to turn them off?Edit: After I had tested them I unplugged them again. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2vN7nPT
