It seems to me that having/using a smartphone is becoming more and more of an requirement in order to take part in society so if the trend continues you are more or less forced to have one regardless of what you think about it yourself...And one thing that really irritates me about smartphones is that it (usually) comes prepackaged with a lot of stuff(apps) you don't want or need and the OS is only supported a limited time...so after 1 or 2 years, the software don't get any more updates and if you are concerned about security/being hacked...by then you need to buy a new phone. Regarding iPhones there is basically nothing you can do about this (but to give Apple some credit they seem to have a longer support of their products than other smartphonemanufacturers), but when it comes to Android-based smartphones there is a possibility to change/modify the OS by rooting and/or changing the OS (which is normally called "rom" regarding smartphones). This is a nice feature but a problem is that it seems to be rather complicated and demands that you have a fairly high technical knowledge about smartphones and have to browse around a lot in various forumthreads (for example XDA-developers). So what I'm looking for is if there are some more userfriendly/standardized way /pedagogical guide that allows even a non-technical person to modify their (android)-smartphone?
