When we first moved to our current house (US), 6 years ago, I "upgraded" the existing white range with a lightly used, stainless steel, convection oven, Jenn-Air gas range (I don't have the model number handy). After a couple years of use the control panel went haywire. It's located in the back of the burners (like a backsplash) and aparently we boiled water in too big of a pot in the back burner and it melted the circuitry. I bought the replacement control panel online, which cost me like $350, installed it and it was as good as new. A few months ago though, with no apparent reason the control panel started going rouge, beeping and turning the oven off randomly. The surface of it is a little rippled which makes me think Heat was the problem again. But, what the heck? This is a freaking stove/oven. How are the parts not moderately heat resistant? I looked up the part again online and it's been discontinued but the few places that carry it, have it for $400+. I can get a new range for not much more than that (albeit a modest brand) but they all seem to have the same electronics located on the same area prone to heat.
Any recommendation on what to get that will last? Doesn't have to be fancy, but it should be stainless steel and look nice.
Thanks.
