Looking for a dinner plate. Don't care about the cost. It's got to be:
-
About as lightweight as melamine or lighter
-
About as strong/shatter-proof as stainless steel (and melamine to an extent)
-
As non-porous, stainless, food-safe as ceramic/porcelain or stainless steel
-
Preferably, but not necessarily: A poor conductor of heat, microwavable, and resistant to temperature shocks
After some Google research, "Corelle" or "molded bamboo" seem pretty good, but not ideal. I'm not sure if you can get dinnerware in these materials, but would polycarbonate, borosilicate glass, Duralex (not sure the material), titanium or pyrex (tempered soda lime glass) fit the bill?
I'm just as interested in theoretical dinnerware made of exotic materials that doesn't exist yet to buy, as I am of dinnerware that does exist that you can buy from a shop.
