So as I'm sure many of you were as well, I was affected by the Equifax breach. The first issue I had was in late August, when someone opened a Barklays Bank rewards card (for Wyndham hotels) in my name. I disputed it (not sure if done completely accurately though) and put a 90 day freeze on my account through Transunion. Then a week ago someone over 2,000 miles away orders $2k worth of Samsung Galaxies and sends them to my house, financed through my AT&T account. I called their fraud department and sorted that out. Now I see there has been a Bank of America credit card opened in my name two days ago, but how? Shouldn't the freeze have stopped this? And how do I go about keeping this from absolutely destroying my life? I'm only 20 years old and have been building my credit since I turned 18, and it's pretty good but idk how long that will last if this keeps up. Should I invest in Lifelock? And who specifically should I be calling for these fraudulent accounts? This is causing me more stress than I could ever have imagined. Any insight is welcomed and greatly appreciated.
