I want to retire as early as I possibly can. I can’t stress that enough. I’m talking age 40-45. Currently, I am 24 and am employed full time by the federal government. I have about $15k in my TSP (401k) contributing 15% of every paycheck biweekly with another 5% employer match. I have about another $15k in a personal investment portfolio. These things in addition to the standard federal pension (FERS) and social security. I am still renting my living space ($650/month), but hope to have a family and own a home in the future (hopefully before retirement). My question is, how much money does someone like me need to have in order to completely retire at 40-45 and still live comfortably? Or is this so impossible from the start? Thanks for the advice!
