So compressors that are capable of compressing air to "high pressure" (think >1,000PSI) are really expensive, a Chinese off brand variant is $300. Usually they go for $1,000+ for better ones.So I wanted to take the hand pump that came with my PCP (pre-charged pneumatic) air rifle, and automate it. A good number of people have had this same idea and have posted their contraptions on YouTube. The issue I am having is; no one is giving a clear source on the motors they are using. The hand pump requires quite a bit of force, especially when whatever it is filling rises over 2,000PSI. I was thinking of a basic windshield wiper motor since they are cheap and already geared, the issues are; how much can they move, and the wiring for 12v is a pain (would prefer 110V). Of course you could probably up the torque and reduce the stress on the motor by having two crank arms, but I want this to be as cheap and simple as possible. So do you guys have any ideas for a cheap electric motor with a lot of torque that would just need one shaft connected to it to move the pump handle? Low RPM's is fine, the compression of air raises it's temperature and that in affect wears the seals on the pump quicker. Thanks! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2fFAcbf
