My wife is now home after a five day hospital stay due to a ruptured appendix. While she was at the hospital I started looking up average costs per night which are usually quoted around $2,000~. Other people said online that their total bill for a surgery plus hospital stay had ballooned into the tens of thousands.
Is everyone posting their numbers before their insurance kicks in? Are there circumstances where your max out of pocket isn't really your max out of pocket?
