Hello!Sorry if this is way too basic for this forum, but I figured enough of y'all would have an immediate idea. Here's my issue -- we just moved into a new-to-us house that had a major series of half-assed renovations done just before the previous tenants (about four years ago now). The problem in question for this post is this set of stairs. The side of the stairs closest to the wall is actually open, while the other side (to the left of the picture) is not, providing an excellent space for my wonderful, but garbage cat to hide.I need to either fill or close this space off -- besides the potential for spiders that could bite her hanging out under there, it also poses a problem if there's ever an emergency and I can't get her out. The issue is that the space between the right side and the wall isn't even six inches. It's not really enough to swing a hammer, so I'm skeptical that I could just cover it with some plywood and nails and call it a day. I considered maybe getting the whole space filled with expanding foam insulation or something similar, but don't know if that's actually a good idea. We currently have it filled in with some pillows and have sort of tamped in a heavy blanket that are hopefully too heavy/tightly wedged for her to extract for now, but this isn't a permanent solution. What do y'all think? Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2xs2yyI
