I'm not really good at this asking for help/advice sort of thing.
I found out last night I'll be laid off in a month or so. I'll be getting severance pay for a minimum of eight weeks but it'll be my base pay (I work overnights, had a 12% differential.) So that may keep us going for a bit but even with that and unemployment and SNAP which I plan to apply for, I don't see me being able to keep up with bills long. My main worry is not being able to pay rent. My family and I are living in a 3 bedroom house, and we have two small children. My wife watches another family's infant for her income, and if we have to move, that would likely impact or completely nullify her position and then we could lose our car.
I'm 29, and I do not have a degree. I got lucky and was hired doing IT helpdesk work, which paid pretty well considering my lack of a degree. I've been slinging my resume and applications left and right at companies with similar open positions for the past month (I was already looking for a way out) but I'm consistently turned down.
I'm trying to hard to be positive and lead the way for my wife's sale but honestly I'm scared shitless. I don't know what to do, or where to start. If anyone has any advice or some wisdom I could greatly use it.
