For context, I started working at a company full time starting from September of last year, while still finishing up my bachelors by going to class at night. My initial position was basically an admin assistant/marketing role at 14/hr. After about 5 months, the current sales coordinator left for another job and I got handed all her duties, without a pay raise or title change even though I had all of her previous responsibilities.

Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, and I finally received my bachelors degree after finishing up my summer class. I had talks with my boss beforehand on my future with the company, and I was promoted into more of a analyst role, and was shifted away from the sales coordinator role. Seeing as how I still hadn't gotten a raise yet even as my job tasks had changed completely and I had obtained a bachelors degree, I talked to my boss about a raise. He told me he would evaluate it and a couple of days later, he called me into his office and offered me 19/hr.

I was disappointed in this offer, as I had been expecting more money. However, I was prepared in case I was presented with a low ball offer, and had researched the market value of this role on sites like Payscale and Glassdoor, and had also developed a list of reasons why he should offer me more money. He said he would think about it and 3 days later, he called me back into his office. He ended up raising his offer to 25/hr, and actually apologizing for lowballing me saying he had done more research and realized his previous offer was "out of the market"

TLDR; Boss lowballed me with 19/hr. I asked for more because I knew my market value. He came back and offered me substantially more. Never be afraid to ask for a raise and always negotiate!!!
