I've heard of the envelope system and even some other methods that, in my mind, are pretty extreme and borderline nuts. For example, my brother and his wife were carrying around a lockbox with physical envelopes for a while.
I'm not trying to go that hardcore. But I'm thinking about carrying cash instead of using a card for most purchases. I don't have a big problem or anything; I still save a good amount of money, I have no debt, and I've never paid a cent in credit card interest. So, it's not that I have a spending problem, but I do spend a lot on food and drinks and random things at Target or whatever that aren't exactly frivolous but probably not strictly necessary either.
Anybody here make the switch? Did you notice a big difference in your sending habits?
