I'm not sure if this is the right subreddit, but I'm looking for general advice and to give the community a heads up about this before it happens to anyone else.
A few months ago I bought a 24-pack of Red Bull from Amazon. Yesterday I got a text alert from my credit card saying I had a charge for $573.12 from Amazon, and I checked my order history to find this item: Red Bull Total Zero, Energy Drink, 12 Fl Oz Cans, 24 Pack which is still up, and still priced at $573.12! It still has the same SKU and all the Q&A and product ratings as when I bought it before.
Here's a screenshot in case they change the price back. removed because it had my zip code.
I called my bank and disputed the charge, but when I called Amazon they just kept running through the script of trying to figure out if anyone else could have placed the order without my permission. They also didn't offer to refund me immediately, instead instructing me to return the item for a refund! They didn't seem to understand that this listing is obviously fraudulent and that it is still live on their site.
I'm not worried about my own money, since I handled the CC charge and I've changed my Amazon password. But I'm confused about how this happened, why this listing exists at this price, and how the order was placed without my knowledge.
Anyone have advice for next steps? I'd hate for others who are not monitoring their credit cards as closely to have this happen to them and not notice. I can't seem to get through to anyone at Amazon who cares.
