I've been looking around for a small armada of notebooks and journals to use for various purposes. I didn't like the 'Moleskin' style notebooks because the paper quality felt so high I just mentally couldn't bring myself to use them.
I explored Legal pads which seem a decent solution. There was also getting a large stack of A4 paper, and then using a three hole punching machine and screw posts to make a DIY binded fat journal.
A lot of notebooks I find online just seem a bit too expensive for my tastes or far too small. They seem to push paper quality as being a major deal, when all I needed is something to write/sketch/scrap on without feeling bad that I'm 'wasting pages'. What do people do when they want to save on writing paper?
I tried the online thing, and gave up pretty quickly. I grew up with writing and cursive, my brain just works on paper not on a computer screen. I need to physically write to get stuff out of my head.
