Once the flooding goes down and the roads open /it's safe(er) to go in, I'm heading to my sister's place in Texas to help salvage what we can. Their place flooded, from what we can see in the pics, about hip/waist deep.Turns out they had just moved and didn't have flood insurance yet, so other than what we can salvage... They're starting from scratch. Our family's not particularly materialistic, but we can be sentimental and there are several irreplaceable mementos/family heirlooms there: *A vintage wedding dress *several antiques *baby clothes (that she really wants to try to save/use for the one she's expecting) *vintage toys & dolls from Europe *framed art/photosPractically/financially it would be nice to salvage some furniture (there's a few solid wood dressers, tables, etc) but like if it's been sitting in nasty water it's just not going to work, is it? I figured this would be the case with anything porous/not bleach able in the assortment of basically everything you need to raise a baby.Is there like a prioritization of things /order to do things best. The whole family has SEVERE mold allergies, so minimizing potential growth is kinda on the top of my list. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2iCBHdY
