So this morning I was driving to work. For what ever reason my brain didn't tell me there was a car stopped ahead. By the time I see it and slam on the brakes, but my foot slipped and rear-ended a car (roughly 10 km/hr). The car that I hit ended up hitting had a bent back fender, but my car had not even a scratch.
This was my first accident so I didn't really know what to do, we pulled over to the side of the road and exchanged phone numbers, names and took pictures of his car. Later he called me and asked for my (I'm renting but insured) insurer, address, car plate number.
Then he told me he won't be able to work for 3 days so he said I have to pay him lost wages ($350) to his bank account, is this legal? Wouldn't the insurer pay for it? I noticed that he was an Uber driver from the sticker on his back window but he didn't mention it at the accident scene and I didn't either.
I'm a bit stressed out about this situation and not sure what to do, could anyone advise me on what to do?
Thankyou
