This might be common knowledge to a lot of you, but price matching can really work in your favor.

We have our honeymoon coming up and really needed to buy luggage. The set we were gifted a few years ago had recently fallen apart as I'm a pretty sure it was $50 for the entire 3 piece set I've been scouring Slickdeals for a while now and haven't seen anything I liked for a price I wanted.

This is where price matching comes in. I checked Amazon and they sell the Samsonite Omni 3 Piece luggage set online right now for $244.99. That's not a bad price, but I was trying to save some money and looking to spend less than $200. We had some gift cards to Bed Bath and Beyond left over from our wedding shower so I decided to check there. BBB was selling the same luggage set for almost $500. Went into BBB and they had no problem price matching down to $244.99 since the items were both the exact same and after I applied $100 worth of gift cards and after tax we only had to spend ~$160 for our luggage set.

Now, I'm sure some of you will point out that I really didn't get a deal since I used a gift card that not everyone has. The point of this post wasn't to say "buy things on sale" but more to point out that there are creative ways that you can minimize the amount of money you personally need to shell out. We were more than happy to offload the gift cards because otherwise we were sure to spend it on useless junk that we would never see the value of.
