I'm curious to know about where you draw the line between what items to purchase that are name brand (expensive) and off-brand (cheap)? For example, I just bought $5.25 contact solution from Equate for 24 ounces and other well known brands were upwards of $12.50 for the same 24 ounces. It's the same product ...

I remember an AskReddit post about what each person's 'dirty little industry secret' was and this guy worked at a packaging and production facility for common pain pills. He said off brand pills were made the exact same way but then put into different labeling bottles. So it got me thinking about advertising and consumerism. Which items (cleaning supplies, bathroom supplies, kitchen, etc) should be bought at the cheapest price and not lose any quality over? Conversely, are there items you buy at the most expensive price for quality? Thanks!
