Edit: *rarely. Damn post title. My brother and i have spent all day building a small boat out of plywood for an event this weekend. We have sealed the seams in the boat, as well as the sides of the plywood sheets, with silicone sealant, but the wooden surfaces themselves are yet untreated.Obviously, water is bad for wood; but as we are on a tight budget i was wondering just how much we should do to keep water out of the wood considering how often we are going to use the boat. We are basically only going to use it for a few hours on one day (where the event mentioned before takes place) every year - the rest of the time, the boat would be stored in a warm, dry garage. So, how much water protection would be warranted for such a project? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2g5NqB5
