had a dumb thought last night after a few drinks. If I donate compute time to a project like folding@home, can I write off the energy cost of my computer while I'm doing it as a charitable donation?

Electricity's 16.3 cents per kilowatt hour average where I'm at.

Computer's around 600 watts peak load, so if I leave this thing running doing its thing while I'm asleep, that's around 84 cents a day in electricity costs.

$309 per year. Sizeable? No. But maybe something I should look into tracking in the future?
