Noob question here about financial statements. I'm looking at income statement data (pulled from S&P Compustat) for some US companies. I see some negative numbers for quarterly revenue, cogs, sg&a, r&d and so forth. How do I interpret these numbers? Are they coming from restatements of previous periods or are they errors or what?
