For a few years I have wanted to rid myself of social media, in particular Facebook. As much as I tried I found that my life was so reliant on my interacting with others on this platform. I find the bombardment of opinions overwhelming. I feel depressed when on social media.
I'm not against SM per say but for myself it became a unhelpful, time consuming habit.
A few months ago I decided to take two weeks off and see how it effects me. My observations were immediate. I felt happier, healthier and free from the noise of everyone's opinions!
So I decided to delete my account permanently. One problem, I use Facebook to admin a few pages for work. These are linked to my private account.
I had a brain wave. I deleted all my friends and pages that I had liked to leave me with an empty FB account.
My experience has been that I have felt free from the noise that was overwhelming me. I have been off FB for three months and have no desire to engage with people again. I still have the app to update pages, but this does not draw me in to interact with others. One week after removing FB I deleted twitter and Instagram.
I have taken up running and have been preparing healthier meals. I have lost 18lb in weight. I feel happier and healthier. I have also met up with friends that I have not seen for a while. I haven't consciously decided to make these changes but they have still happened.
Q. What are your thoughts on social media?
Q. Do you find it difficult to give up?
Q. What are the Benefits Vs Negatives of social media?
I'm just interested in others thoughts on this??? 😎
