My roommate and I are going to be splitting up and I'll be moving into a different complex soon on my own. What's the best way to keep utility costs down?
What I know is that I do live in a very hot part of the world (the south) and in our current apartment, most of the electric bill goes towards keeping the house from becoming a sauna. We run the dishwasher every two weeks or so. We each take one shower per day and don't let the water run if we can help it.
Is there anything I can do besides the obvious "keep lights turned off"? I'm going to have an in-unit washer and dryer, so will that drive up the water bill?
