I'm from BC, Canada and I just got my first ever welding job at 18/hr so things are good, and on the 12th I'll be asking for 20/hr as that's what my friend made who is male who did less work than me and whatever, so anyways I told my mom this and she said that even though I'll have a raise it'll put me in a different tax regimen so I'll actually be making less than if I was making 18/hr because I'll be taxed a lot more.
Can someone explain how this works? Ive heard two sides to this and I'm not sure what to believe. I really want to make the optimal amount I can without losing it all to taxes! Thanks!
