I was wondering what you guys thought of hardcover books vs softcover or ebooks, or finding a (pirated...) pdf/epub version to download.
If it's an old or extremely popular book I'll find an epub or read it on Gutenberg or somewhere similar, if it's an author I'd like to support I'll buy the hardcover or paperback. I don't really see the point of paying a few dollars for a digital file when I could get it for free so I never get ebooks, and also the physicality of a book makes it worth it to me. I spend enough time staring at screens as it is.
TL;DR is paying $40 for a hardcover book worth it to you, or is $40 better spent on necessary clothing or food when money is tight?
