We're in the process of buying our first home.

We have 2 kids. 1 & 4 yrs olds. So my wife and I consider good schools a top priority when considering buying a home.

But one of my co-workers doesn't care about that. His main criteria is buying a house close to work and not older than 10yrs. He says "if she's smart she'll do well anyway" l LOL!

Me on the other hand I'm willing to trade those two things for good schools.

So that leads me to ask what's in the title of this thread. How important/valuable are homes in good school districts?

EDIT:

Let's assume this post is targeted to families and not single guys or childless couples. Thnx
