My friend (in florida)was approached, woo'd, wine's and dined by a company (the job is in switzerland) and flew her for a face to face, a few days to explore and see if she likes it. She went home and they gave her an official offer a week later. 196k, 13% signing bonus, they'll subsidize half the school for her son, all moving expenses and French tutoring for the two years she'll be obligated to be there if she takes it. It's a significant raise in pay and position and they sought her out, she never applied. Company is legit, even I knew who they were.

She took the offer to her current employer, letting them know she had 72 hours, wanting to offer them a chance to counter. She likes her company, but let's be frank, a global directors as opposed to being a manager?

They were shocked asked for a day to counter and this morning they countered. 113k. A 10k bump.no change in position, nothing, a 10k bump. Their reasoning is that it is the us equivalent to what she would be making over there once you take out cost of living.

She was willing to stay for a better position and 20% bump.

Is this the equivalent like they claim?

Because I'm damn sure it's not and she has 24 hours left on the table. She's willing to take this job in switzerland - I've been telling her to do it too - but she wants to make sure she has her math right.
