Hey, I decided to DIY moving for the first time ('pro' movers were scammy criminals last time, want to save anyway).

I have a Queen bed+frame, couch, desk, coffee table, 2 end tables to haul. In other words, not much.

Anyone have experiences with these companies?

I'm doing a 3-4 mile local move within Chicago, no stairs either end, and friends to help.

I basically can do a Penske 12 footer for about $90 for the day w/ insurance and some supplies. But also considering a Uhaul Cargo Van (2 trips) for about $50 w/ insurance and supplies.

Penske is more reputable and much better CS from what I heard. On the other hand, the 9 foot Cargo van will be a LOT easier to drive through the city, albeit with 2 trips.

Also heard Uhaul likes to hit you with 'add-on' surprise fees at the end. I mean, yeah, fill up the gas, $1 per mile. Same with Penske. Not sure what else they would try to nail me for.

Any advice for the best route to go here, or perhaps a 3rd option?
