I just received a call from some lawyers office (Collins and Associates?) saying they were sending me documents to take me to court for an old US Bank account that over drafted in like 2011 and has accrued interest for who knows how long. I was unaware of any of this until I got a call from a courier saying they were delivering me documents on Monday and he gave me the lawyers office info to call. I have no idea what to do right now. I have an hour to call this guy back with a decision on if I pay the full amount in installments or pay a settlement amount. Both of which I dont have nearly enough money for.
What do I do?
Edit: Thank you to all who have offered advice! I appreciate it so much and it helped me calm down from tears at work. Now that I have calmed down some I've gone back and re-read things and, yes, this does sounds like a scam. I did post over at r/legaladvice to see if there is anything I would need to do to CMA if this were to go any further.
