I moved out of a one year rental apartment and I expected to do the move out inspection, but I was told by the leasing agent that the maintenance guys do that and they only do it during the week. I would have to take time off work in order to be there. I took a 20 minute long video of the entire apartment including every nook and cranny, and additional pictures of any minor damages that I may have caused. Should I still take the time off work to be present during inspection?
Secondly, my stupidity: on move in, I did the move in inspection with them and noted down things with them and we both signed the paper. They said they'll keep it in my file. I never received a copy (my stupidity because I should have asked). There was really bad scratching on a few cupboards that we noted, but if they say they don't have a copy of the move in checklist am I screwed? Should I be expecting that or are most apartments held to strict regulations on keeping those files safe and secure? This is washington state.
Thanks
