I'm not the most thrifty person, but I try to be conscientious about my purchases. I have a friend who constantly complains about being "poor", but continues to spend money on things like $300 sunglasses, a new designer watch for school (she has a phone and I expect already has a watch), and moved out of her parents' place to live with her boyfriend (who I think might be enabling her spending habits, even though neither of them make that much money). She's told me she has $3k credit card debt, to which she is making minimum payments, and also has student loans. Despite living in a fairly transit-accessible city, she drives her mom's car everywhere. She often posts her purchases on social media, which I think encourages this behaviour. I've mentioned my concerns to her before, but I feel like I'm nagging. It's kind of painful to see her make such thoughtless purchases. What would you do? Is it none of my business?
