I live in an apartment with two roommates and want to be able to lock my bedroom door. I'd like to change my (non-locking) bedroom doorknob to a keylock myself (I am not handy/skilled but I do have some tools and can watch youtube tutorials!), but realize I may have to hire someone (the super/landlord don't do things like this for us - they only do necessary repairs, not alterations).I'd prefer not to make alterations to the door itself so that I can replace the keylock with the original doorknob when I leave. If I have to make permanent alterations to the door, I have to ask permission from the landlord and it may involve or attract the attention of my roommates...which I'd like to avoid if possible. The problem is, the door is very old in a very old NYC apartment building. I've asked a couple of friends and asked at a hardware store, but people either haven't known or suggested drilling into the door. I've included photos and am hoping someone has a miraculous solution for me. :)What specific type of keylock doorknob should I get, given the exact measurements of my door/latch in the photos? Can I do this without drilling new holes in the door?http://ift.tt/2qhPXLo via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2pAUDwV
