I am planning on buying a house in the near future (within perhaps 3-5 years). I'd like to know your opinion on how much I should have ready before actually buying a house. Here's a little background:

A house in my area: expecting to pay between 120-150k Minimum down payment I will make: 20% Current age: 20yrs old

I understand there can be so costs that nobody thinks about like unexpected repairs, inspections(?), closing costs, new items for lawn/house care, etc.

So, what would you say would be a good amount to have socked away before purchasing (or even looking to purchase)? Including the down payment if you could. Any other advice is welcome, thanks so much!

Also, I do realize I'm younger but I have a child and I know I will be in this area until my child is 18 (at the very least) and I am very sure that a house is something we will stay in for the long haul. It's something I have been planning/saving for for a couple years since I had my child. It's been my plan to have a house for her to grow up in, it's very important to me.
