Intro: So the house I bought isn't very old (only 2004), but the owners have changed a lot and the sprinkler system was broken many years ago. The front lawn consisted of only weeds and no grass, so I pulled everything up and started tilling. I knew there was a sprinkler system via the disclosure but I could only see one sprinkler head. After digging and deeper tilling I found 3 sprinkler heads on a 3 zone system.Current State: See All Pictures HereDenver, CODirt is a mix of fill from construction, see pics~500 sqft east-facing front yard of dirt3 sprinkler heads found so far3 valves/zones in the control box1 cracked valve on the back-flow preventer1 damaged hose on one of the sprinkler lines (I hit it with the tiller when it was only 3-4 inches deep. The Plan:Looking for more advice but the plan is to replace the whole back-flow preventer, test the control valves, repair the hose on the one I damaged, and replace all the sprinkler heads. I'm still debating whether its worth the $ to upgrade the control panel.Questions:Should I remove the suspected old fence post? (Pic 1) (Pic 2) (Pic 3)Should I just replace the shredded hose next to the elbow joint or something more involved? (Pic 6)Can I test any of the control valves before repair the blowback system? I'm trying to reduce trips to the store. (Pic 10)Should I move the water-heater by shimmying it or is there another issue? (Pic 12)Should I spend the $ for a smart system?Thank you for your help! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2qF7tGF
