Hello friends, I live in a 1913 townhouse and am about to get started removing the wall the that separates the kitchen and the living room. A neighbor a few doors down has already done it and commented he encountered an asbestos wrapped heating duct. I want to hire a professional for the removal of this, and have actually found someone to do it.My question: can I demo the lathe an plaster? (I'd like to get started this weekend). My thinking is, I have 3 options:stay away from the part of the wall and studs in which this duct is contained, but remove the rest of the wall beyond those studs. I should be safe? I assume the asbestos is wrapped in a layer of paper or plaster?I can go ahead and remove all the plaster, but leave the lathe near the ducting.Don't do it at all. Wait for the experts to remove the duct and then proceed.I've bought a P100 respirator, goggles and plastic sheeting to contain the area and will be aiming a box fan out of a very nearby window. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2o6zZks
