Back in 2013 I bought a used Nissan from a guy out of town and had it towed to my place.
Fast forward about 6 months and I start getting letters in the mail that I owe a $90 parking ticket to the city the previous owner lived near. The VIN matched my vehicle but the license plate was wrong and the ticket was dated before I bought the car.
After speaking with the number provided they said I could no longer contest the ticket because of how long it had been. I contacted a collection agency next and explained the issue. They asked me to send a letter and documentation to them.
I sent the information 4-5 times over 2 years and the item is still on my record. I have moved 3 times since 2013 (military) and each new address I get another letter saying I owe $90.
Any ideas on what to do to actually get this resolved? My credit score is great, but it'd be nice for it to not be affected by something that doesn't even pertain to me.
