Hi everyone, monday i will be having a meeting with my boss about my salary for the first time and i'm wondering what some good salary negotiation tips are.

background: i work as a photo editor and studio manger for a small high end wedding studio (small meaning there are two other full time employees who have been there 10+ years and the boss man).

I was originally one of their photographers, however thy approached me and asked if i would be interested in the day to day and business side of things, as one of their employees was quitting and they needed some help in the studio. Of course i accepted and I have been in training part time for 3 months at $18 an hr as 1099.

well we've hit the 3 month mark and monday we will be discussing my compensation package and i want to put myself in the best position to negotiate.

nyc average is about 60k (or ~$29/hr) from my research (but this includes a large range of small and large companies so i'm not really sure)

this is my first full time job a little under a year out of college with a photography degree so i already had a lot of the skills they needed in the office (mostly worked on client relations during the three months)

how do i put myself in the best position to make a jump from $18/hr to around $29/hr?
