If you were retiring today, what would your portfolio look like? That is, a portfolio geared towards a retiree who must live off passive income from investments and no other income. I've done a lot of reading over at /r/financialindependence, and they typically recommend something like 80/20 index/bonds or simply 100% index funds. I see a very different sentiment here. That's good, because, historical simulations be damned, even 80/20 seems really aggressive for a retiree - particularly if you're retiring near a stock market ATH.
Let's say you've got $1 mil work with. I'm leaning towards a dirt simple approach with Fidelity: 60% FTBFX (total bond fund) + 40% FOCPX (aggressive tech fund) under the current market circumstances.
What say you, gents?
