As I was debating what to have for dinner tonight, we decided on chicken. It is early afternoon and I have to set it out from the freezer to thaw.
I normally just do it in the morning, but since it is early afternoon, it will not thaw by the time dinner comes around.
I usually would fill up the sink with hot water (have a tankless water heater) and it takes a while to heat up.
In this case I put water in a pot, put on the gas stove, heated it up slightly, and dumped the chicken (in a bag of course) into the water to thaw.
I thought to myself, how much does it cost me to run the water, then heat it up via the hot water heater, versus putting a little water in a pan and heating up with the gas stove.... geez.
