I have been teaching at private -- both boarding and day -- schools for several years and recently decided to accept a job at a good private school in China. Part of the reason I took this job is that I want to be able to pay off my student loans (and other minor credit debts) as quickly as possible.
I already know there is plenty of literature in this subreddit regarding what to pay and in what order, how to invest, etc., but I thought I would ask if anyone has advice regarding country-specific, i.e., China-related, finance recommendations; suggestions; advice; etc.
As a teacher and having continued summer vacation into adulthood, in addition to my new position giving me a generous housing stipend, I will be able to bank much more money than I ever have before. I have always thought of buying a summer home as part of my five- or ten-year plan: I always wanted to buy place in Italy to live in the summers. This is my other reason I decided to ask on here: Would that be foolish and should I instead simply visit where I wish to be in Italy (or wherever) and rent a place for an entire summer?
