I'm going to be sharing a new apartment and we want to convert the living room into a bedroom because the second bedroom is rather small and we have a second living room. The problem is that one of the living room doors doesn't have a door, just a frame about 3' wide, 6' - 7' tall. The landlord doesn't want any major alterations but I'm sure a few nail holes would be fine.I would of course like to seal off this large doorway for privacy. My question is, how can I do so without permanently altering the apartment?A few thoughts occurred to me:Get a cheap shelf to block off the doorway. The pros are the relatively cheap price, and I get more storage space. The disadvantages are primarily the set-up and disassembly, if/when I move.Get some kind of board that's big enough to cover the door-way. However, I'm not familiar with this sort of thing (material, hardware, how to fix them, and where to buy them and blocking off sound is a problem). What are my alternatives? A sliding door? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2oFYice
