quick diagram of my idea not to scale, just to show my plan.So my plan is to do a patio of pavers behind my house. One side of the patio will be flush against my house (cement foundation about 2ft up), another side will be next to my wooden deck.On the two exterior sides of the patio I want to build a sitting wall. Both walls will have an opening in them, one for access to the yard and one for an 8'x8' bed of gravel for my hot tub.My plan was to have a 3-4" gravel perimeter between the pavers and sitting wall for a french drain. The pavers will have a slight pitch to them towards the sides with the drain. On the section of the drain in front of the opening for yard access I will probably put a paver over the gravel flush with the rest of the patio so there isn't a tripping hazard. What do you guys think of the french drain setup? is it excessive? is it not enough? I have pretty much zero experience with setting up drainage so I want to know if I'm over/under thinking this or if my plan of action seems appropriate. My yard is luckily graded fairly well in the backyard (last summer's project) so the ground already slopes away from the house. Let me know if you have any other random tips or advice on the project as a whole too, like I said I'm very inexperienced so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any tips or advice! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2pZa7tX
